No one likes to stuck in traffic whether they are traveling for office or are on a road trip or are going on a long drive but imagine soaring above congested ground traffic. Yes, you heard that right. Uber, an American multinational transportation network company is bringing aerial ridesharing. With the launch of Uber Air, a shared air transportation program— planned for 2023— flying taxis in future seems closer than one can think. The company in August announced five
possible markets to launch its pipedream ‘Uber Elevate’: Australia, Brazil, France, India, and Japan. It also confirmed that from 2023, customers will be able to get a flight on-demand in Dallas and Los Angeles. The aerial ridesharing program will connect passengers between suburbs and cities, and ultimately within cities, as they soar above congested ground traffic in small, electric VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft, effortlessly riding between conveniently located Skyports, from the ground to air to ground. According to the website, the aerial ride-sharing transportation needs a network of Skyports to enable Uber Air operations. At scale, Skyports require all-new designs to handle up to 1,000 landings per hour, even within footprints as dense as an acre or two.
The future of transport is definitely undergoing a massive change, if this seamless transportation becomes a hit then a new era of public transport surely awaits us!
