Facebook has Launched a New Video & Photo-Sharing Tool

Feb 14, 2020

Do you have thousands of photos uploaded to Facebook that you'd like to move onto another app or website? Now the social media company will let you do just that. It has launched a new video & photo-sharing tool that allows users to share their Facebook photos and videos directly on to other web-based services freeing users from the hassle of uploading the same image to various services separately. It was built as part of the open-source Data Transfer Project- a technology partnership between major social networking and digital companies designed to make information posted on one social media service available on other services. The new tool is an extension of Facebook's existing tools made available to download all your information from the site. The ability to download photos will be in the “Your Facebook Information” menu, within Facebook's settings. The data will be encrypted throughout its journey from Facebook to Google Photos and to any other platform that is added in future, users will be required to enter their Facebook password before the transfer starts in order to keep the data secure.
However, the photo and video transfer feature are being rolled out to Facebook users in Ireland only, with a worldwide release schedule planned for the first six months of 2020.
